A Cheap Linux Compatible Fingerprint Reader

After using my framework laptop for a few months, one thing I really love is the ability to unlock my computer and use sudo with the fingerprint reader. I liked this so much I wanted it on my desktop.

The only option

After looking at my options, I found that only one of these devices was available + not discontinued. The Digital Persona U.are.U 4000/4000B/4500

This device is available new on Amazon for ~$90, but for ~$20 used on eBay.

I plugged it in, configured NixOS to use fprint, and it worked out the box with fprintd-enroll
